Hot summer, wasn't it?

Today I want to share some progress on the report system. The list of things you can report has grown:

• Posts
• Comments
• Playlists
• Users

So now, instead of venting in the comments, you can just file a report.

Report groups

Before, every report landed in one big pile. It was a constant stream, and it was hard to tell what mattered and what didn't. Now the admin panel sorts everything into groups. The first thing I see is what gets reported the most, who reported it, and the report text itself.

If a post, playlist, or user breaks the rules and a lot of people start reporting it, it shows up at the top of my list right away. That lets me react fast.

Rating system

This system is still in development.

Not all reports are equally useful. Some people spam reports on things that don't break any rules. Others mostly flag exactly the things that do. Their reports shouldn't carry the same weight.

So I'm tracking stats for each user: how many of their reports were accepted and how many were rejected. From that comes a kind of quality rating for reporters. The scale won't be linear. Most likely it will be logarithmic, so that someone with 100 accepted reports doesn't get a voice 100 times louder than someone with one.

I'll also keep detailed stats for each user: likes and dislikes on their comments, how often their comments and playlists get reported, and how often they get reported themselves.

The main thing I want to get across:

I want to keep the content diverse, but there will be moderation.

Controversial content will be removed at the platform's discretion, without explanation.
